Patients experiencing rosacea, spider, and varicose veins may be insecure about their appearance, but these problems signal underlying health concerns that should be addressed. Colorado Skin & Vein offers cutting-edge treatments for vein problems, many of which are covered by insurance. The best treatment depends on the type of vein problems you’re experiencing.

Varicose veins present as twisted and enlarged, bulging vessels, which can ache and appear lumpy. Broken valves within them allow blood to flow backward, causing pooling and swelling. Left untreated, legs may ache, feel heavy and swollen, and be discolored. Nighttime cramps are common as is Restless Leg Syndrome. Even slow-healing ulcers can form.
Colorado Skin & Vein offers three treatments for varicose veins removal: Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA), Endovenous Radiofrequency (EVRF), and VenaSeal™. Both Endovenous treatments involve lasers to deliver to safely and effectively close damaged veins, after which, they are absorbed by the body and blood flow is directed to healthy veins. EVLA involves inserting the small laser to deliver 1320 nanometer light waves, safely closing dysfunctional veins. Only local anesthetic is necessary, and the incision is tiny enough stitches are not required. Veins will disappear in 1-2 weeks and most patients see symptomatic improvement within a week.
EVRF with ClosureFast™ works similarly to EVLA. A tiny catheter delivers radiofrequency waves to damaged veins, and recovery is relatively quick at only a few days. The blood supply redirects to healthier vessels, and within a few weeks, the affected veins are absorbed. Results are long-lasting, with many patients showing no recurrence more than five years out.

VenaSeal™ is different. It’s a medication that glues together the walls of disruptive veins, collapsing them safely and prompting absorption. Symptoms improve as soon as the vein is closed, though veins may take more time to disappear. Patients experience very little downtime with VenaSeal™ treatments, and the risk of complications, such as nerve injury, is lessened.
Spider veins appear near the surface like red, purple, or blue tree branches. While they can happen anywhere on the body, legs and face are the most common location. They can be hereditary or environmental from trauma, excessive standing, obesity, and exposure to UV rays or excessive heat. They require medical attention to determine if a more serious health concern.
Sclerotherapy is the recommended treatment. Medication collapses the insufficient veins by making their walls stick together. The body’s immune system naturally absorbs them as blood is rerouted to healthier vessels. Vein closure is immediate, but symptoms may take a few days or weeks to abate. Compression stockings are recommended following treatment.

Rosacea is caused by enlarged capillaries and venules resulting in red, bruise-like spots that never heal. The recommended treatment is Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL), which targets damaged vessels with a concentrated beam of light. The heat from the light disrupts insufficient vein structures, and they disappear over the course of a few weeks. There’s no downtime, though around three treatments are recommended, depending on the patient.

"I am so incredibly thrilled with the care and treatment I received at Colorado Skin and Vein. As a younger woman seeking treatment for varicose and spider veins, I was nervous about not being taken seriously or being upsold, and I was so impressed by the professionalism and integrity that I experienced at Colorado Skin and Vein. I saw both Dr. Verebelyi for diagnosis and Abbey Jones for treatment, and was impressed with them both. Abbey is an especially rare gem of a human. She is both so skilled and so caring, and she made sclerotherapy feel like actual therapy. I wish I had before and after pictures of my legs, because the results from just two treatments are truly night and day, and Abbey’s bedside manner is the absolute best of the best. Not only was this the best money I’ve ever spent, but I am SO glad that I spent it here specifically. You all are wonderful at what you do, and I’m very grateful for you."
