What is Kybella?
Kybella treatments are the FDA-approved injections of a synthesized molecule that occurs naturally in the body: Deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is the molecule responsible for breaking down and dissolving dietary fat in the body. When injected in the submental area, it can be used as a targeted treatment for double chin reduction. The fat cells are gradually dissolved and eliminated naturally through the body’s lymphatic system.
The double chin reduction treatment requires only 15 to 20 minutes per appointment. You can receive one or many injections per appointment. You can rely on Colorado Skin & Vein specialists, who are professionally trained to provide safe injection delivery.
What to Expect After Kybella Treatments
Most patients can expect to notice the first results within a few weeks and gradually see improvements over the course of 3 to 4 months. It takes time for the body to process the damaged fat cells and flush them out. Additionally, you may need more than one treatment, which we’ll work together to define.
As it is a minimally invasive procedure with no surgical intervention, which means there is no severe downtime or recovery period. You can book a treatment during your lunch hour and resume your day as per usual.
You may experience minimal bruising, tenderness, and swelling that will disappear within days up to 2 weeks. We recommend avoiding medication that can facilitate bruising, such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen, ahead of the injection.

Kybella results are permanent as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight.
Kybella is not suitable for patients on blood thinners or who have blood disorders, which can affect the healing process. We do not know the effect of Kybella on babies and fetuses, so we advise pregnant and breastfeeding women against the procedure.
