FAQs

What is Botox?

Botox, a prescription medication, was introduced in 2002.  It is used to temporarily relax muscle movement.

How can Botox injections help me?

Repetitive muscle movement and aging leads to facial wrinkles.  When we are younger, the skin can easily bounce back.  As we age those repeated movements lead to wrinkles.  Botox can relax the muscle so the skin lays smoother.

When will I see results?

Results may appear in a few days but may take up to 2 weeks for the full effect.

What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Dysport is another manufacturer brand of botulism toxin.  It is like comparing Coke vs. Pepsi.  Xeomin is another brand that recently came on the market.

 Who will administer my treatment?

Our registered nurse injectionist, Laura Carlsen, performs 95% of our treatments.  She has nearly 6 years of injection experience and has tripled our number of Botox patients in the last few years.

What is Filler?

Filler is designed to replace lost volume caused by the aging process.  Cheeks and lips can become more full, wrinkles can be softened, and hollowed areas can be restored.

How can Filler injections help me?

Facial aging is caused by many factors including bone deterioration, loss of muscle mass and thinning skin.  Filler can temporarily correct many of these issues.

When will I see results?

Juvederm delivers instant correction with results lasting from 6 months to 2 years depending on the type of Juvederm used and the location it is placed.  Sculptra requires a series of injections with results starting in a few months and lasting more than 2 years.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in abundance in healthy skin.  For those that have never tried filler, Juvederm is an excellent choice as there is an enzyme that dissolves the product within 24 hours should adjustments need to be made.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a unique filler in that it slowly stimulates your own collagen-making ability.  A full treatment of Sculptra Aesthetic, an average of 2-4 sessions over a few months, can last more than 2 years.  Sculptra is excellent in replacing lost volume in the cheeks, temples, under the eyes, and for the correction of jowls.  Customized treatments, our registered nurse Laura Carlsen’s speciality, restores youth in a subtle, natural way.
